Synopsis

city_of_angels City of Angels is a German-American film directed by Brad Silberling, released in 1998.

Seth, an angel, should comfort the people, and relieve them at the time of their death. He feels, however, no sense of our world. One day he met the young woman surgeon Maggie Rice when she has a heart operation on a man. While the patient has just died on the operating table, helpless, Maggie takes refuge alone in a quiet corner of the hospital and is recovering at issue in this failure. Seth, invisible, looks cry. At this time only for a brief instant, she feels his presence and see it almost as it is normally impossible. Marked by this meeting that for the first time he had the impression that a human had seen Seth closer little by little the young surgeon. On the other hand, Maggie feels responsible for the death of his patient. It crosses a long period of doubt and calls into question his professional and personal.

Seth must now protect a patient of Maggie is going to operate. One evening, while he is invisible in the room of the patient, it said out loud that he knows he is there, even if he can not see it. For Seth, it is a great shock for the first time, it is seen by a being that protects them. He then discovers that the patient in question is a former angel who has renounced his status to become a man.

Gradually, Seth Maggie appears to be closer to her. They spend time together and Maggie begins to understand that Seth is different, but they feel understood by him and gradually falls in love. Finally, Seth will relinquish its status as an angel to Maggie. He jumps from a tall building and becomes human. He does speak several languages, he feels pain, heat and odors. He runs joined Maggie who fled his home in Lake Tahoe. The next day, Maggie released a few races. Returning, she died in a bike accident. Plagued by sadness, Seth does not regret having given up his status to live a single day with her.
