Synopsis

e_t_the_extra_terrestrial_vE.T. the extra-terrestrial is a science fiction film of 1982, directed by Steven Spielberg.

Distributed by Universal Pictures, E.T. became a success at the box office, surpassing, at the time, like Star Wars movie has grossed more in the history of cinema.

The film was released on 11 June 1982 in the United States of America, and December 3 of that year in Italy. He was re-released in 1985 and 2002, adding new scenes and enhanced special effects. The film deals with issues dear to the director, such as growth, respect and tolerance. Spielberg believes that E.T. is all his work.

For the director, E.T. opened the way for a new genre of film: film more personal, focusing on emotions and human conditions of the actors, like the color purple, Schindler’s List and Amistad.

In 1994 he was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress of the United States.
