Night in the Ruts is the sixth studio album from the Hard rock band Aerosmith. This album was produced by Jack Douglas, who had worked in the four previous albums Aerosmith, but by Gary Lyons. In mid-recording, the recording of Aerosmith and the managers sent to the group on tour, leaving no time to produce the album. This tour led to the departure of the album was postponed until late 1979.

Joe Perry left the band in mid tour, after a violent discussion in which members were involved in the band and their wives. Before you leave Perry, had already completed the guitar parts for No Surprise Chiquita, Cheesecake, Bone to Bone (Coney Island Whitefish Boy), and Three Mile Smile. The guitar parts of songs that were missing were recorded by Brad Whitford, Richie Supa, Neil Thompson and Jimmy Crespo (who later became the official replacement Perry from 1979 to 1984).

Despite good reviews and a great commercial success, the album quickly fell from the tables of positions, since only énoncé obtained platinum status. Promotional videos were filmed for No Surprise Chiquita and (with the replacement Perry, Jimmy Crespo), but not enjoyed much popularity.

The name of the album plays with the phrase right in the nuts. in Spanish means “live in the nuts”.
