The album Nevermind (released on 24/09/1991) was the breakthrough of Nirvana in this band from Seattle. The most famous song on this second album was Smells like teen spirit that grew into a world. Also In Bloom, Come as You Are and Lithium were hits. It was the second album by the group, after Bleach in 1989.

Before Nirvana was one of the many obscure groups from Seattle, then they were a high flying commercial. Not only this, they changed the entire music landscape. After the eighties were dominated by hair metal and electropop was thanks Never Mind the music more rock oriented. Together with other grunge bands from Seattle (as Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains) changed the look of the commercial music completely. She led the underground as it were upwards.

The album owes its success to clean – against the normal practice in grunge so – production, the album, and the song Smells Like Teen Spirit made to fit the music to MTV games.
